Burrowing Owls 1

Burrowing Owls are native to the southwest and are the only species of owl who nest exclusively underground.  Their preferred abode is abandoned prairie dog burrows.  They are less than 10 inches tall and weigh about as much as a baseball.  Unlike other owls, they are often active during the day.
